Brightcove named top online video platform of 2012

US consultancy Frost & Sullivan has named Boston-based firm Brightcove as having the top online video platform globally, and described it as the “benchmark against which other are compared”.

Frost & Sullivan awarded its 2012 Global Market Share Leadership Award for online video platforms to Brightcove’s Video Cloud solution, ascribing Brightcove’s success to its leadership position in the market and technological excellence, as well as its focus on innovation and growth on a global scale.

“With best-in-class solutions, Brightcove Video Cloud is the benchmark against which all other vendors and products are compared,” said Loren Johnson, senior analyst, Frost & Sullivan. “Beyond that, Brightcove’s model for success is one that its competitors work to emulate, solidifying its place as the clear market leader in online video platforms.”

This isn’t the first accolade that has come Brightcove’s way this year: ABI Research recently named it as top supplier globally of both online video platforms and content delivery networks, with the Boston firm scoring top marks for both implementation skills and innovation, followed by Ooyala and then Akamai.
