Telekom Austria posts modest TV growth

Austria’s dominant telco is still stuck in the low hundreds of thousands for its TV customer base, reaching 213,000 by the end of September, up a modest 14.6% from one year earlier.

Telekom Austria launched its IPTV service ‘A1TV’ nearly six years ago, and in May of last year expanded its basic package to 110 channels, in addition to 30 premium and 10 HD ones.

The total number of product bundles increased to more than 1 million, helping to increase its fixed broadband lines by 1%, and reducing the loss of total access lines to only 2,600 lines in the third quarter of  2012.

Total revenues across all operations and markets for the third quarter of this year reached €1.0937bn, down 1.6% on an annual basis, while net income fell by a starker 22.5% to reach €99.2mn.
