maxdome arrives on the PS3

German over-the-top (OTT) video service maxdome has launched a VOD app for the PlayStation 3 games console, developed in partnership with Swedish firm Accedo and giving users access to its large catalogue of films and TV shows.

The app was developed under a partnership formed earlier this year to develop Smart TV apps for multiple platforms, with the intention of placing the maxdome service on as many platforms as possible.

“This is an important platform for extending our reach in the living room,” commented Robert Dube, Head of Product & Channel Management , maxdome. “Accedo has extensive experience in creating TV apps for multiple platforms and was therefore a natural choice for us to partner with on this project.”

maxdome is owned by German media group ProSiebenSat.1 and has a library of over 45,000 VOD titles, including feature films, series, comedies, sports, music and cartoons, all of which can be accessed on PCs, laptops, connected TVs and set-top boxes.

Unusually for the OTT market, the maxdome service offers content on both a subscription and transactional (SVOD and TVOD) basis, with selected titles available for both rental and purchase.
