Bahrain’s Batelco launches OTT video service

Bahraini communications service provider Batelco has launched a new over-the-top (OTT) video service called ‘Batelco Play’, available on a wide range of connected devices.

The service only offers on-demand content at present however, with over 200 international and Arabic movies and TV serves currently available.

Batelco Play is available to all Bahraini residents irrespective of their Internet service provider, and requires an Internet connection of at least 256 Kbps.

This launch follows hard on the heels of a similar service launched in Bahrain just last week by rival telco Atyaf – more details here.
