Portugal’s Optimus partners with Dailymotion for TV app

Portuguese telco Optimus (part of Sonaecom) has developed a TV app in partnership with online video site Dailymotion which offers its triple-play customers access to Dailymotion’s library of over 30mn videos.

The new app enables users to browse by topics, search for keywords, and gain access to 20 pre-defined categories organised by the site, which include Music, Humour, Sports and TV.

Users can also access HD titles, including the latest music videos, additional content from the best movies, new video games reviews or demos and interviews with the biggest stars in sports.

The app also lets uses share the TV movies of family and friends on the TV screen, by simply uploading home videos on to the Dailymotion site and looking them up in the Optimus Clix TV app.

Optimus launched its managed IPTV service in 2006, and now offers over 150 linear channels and more than 4,000 VOD titles on the service.

However, the most recent estimates by Informa Telecoms & Media (publisher of IP&TV News) calculate that the company only accounted for 1.2% of the Portuguese pay-TV market by the end of June 2011.
