We have now finished our first ever live Q&A session on IP&TV News, hosted earlier today by Mike Johns, founder and CEO of marketing & technology management consultancy Digital Mind State.

Mike – who has provided marketing and consulting services to some of hip hop’s biggest names, including Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and the Beastie Boys – came online at 11am UK time to answer questions on how rappers are leveraging online video platforms and services to build out their brand and connect with audiences.

In a wide-ranging session lasting just under an hour, Mike gave his thoughts on the platforms that everyone knows, such as YouTube and Vevo, and those that he believes are up and coming.

Mike also discussed how he believes some of these big established platforms are hoodwinking emerging artists hoping to benefit from the revenue-sharing model but earning crumbs, and what these artists can do instead.
