KIT digital wins asset management contract for Latin American OTT service

Totalmovie, one of Latin America’s biggest over-the-top (OTT) video services, has appointed KIT digital to handle all of the digital asset management for its video-on-demand service, now available in over 40 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

KIT digital Content Solutions will be responsible for Totalmovie’s VOD encoding and encrypting to metadata normalisation for its multi-platform service, which is delivered  to Internet-connected TVs, PCs, smartphones (Android and iOS) and tablets.

As part of the deal, KIT digital will research, write and translate metadata – encompassing the synopsis, participants, rating and genre – into Spanish, Portuguese and English.

The deal will see KIT digital Content Solutions process around 5,500 hours of content a month in these three languages across multiple devices.

The partnership is expected to make more TV shows and movies available faster on more devices, and help Totalmovie position itself as a premium player for Latin American consumers.

Totalmovie’s OTT service costs US$ 7.99 a month, and is up against the offerings of Netflix, which launched in Latin America in September 2011 at around the same price point.
