Open IPTV Forum expands into the Great White North

Industry body the Open IPTV Forum (OIPF) has added five new members to its roster, including three Canadian firms.

The new members include Canadian companies Espial (a supplier of TV software and solutions), Stingway Digital Group (a content provider and broadcaster), and The Weather Network and MétéoMédia (providers of weather-related information); along with French firm DOTSCREEN (a developer of connected TV services and apps), and UK training company Perpetual Solutions.

The new members join over 50 leading IPTV industry companies currently contributing to the work of the OIPF, including JT Global (Jersey Telecom), STC (Saudi Telecom) and Korean set-top box vendor Humax, who were previously approved as new members in June 2012.

The Open IPTV Forum saw some of its key technologies adopted most recently by Freesat, the UK’s free-to-air digital satellite TV provider, for its next-generation Freesat+ boxes which were launched earlier today (September 4th).
