IBC: Technicolor ships 150mn set-top boxes

French firm Technicolor has reached the milestone of 150mn digital set-top boxes shipped since its first one in 1994, and reports that it has been delivering them at a rate of 10mn per year for the past decade.

The company adds that it has seen a significant increase in STB shipments to fast-growing markets such as Latin America, India and Southern Asia over the last few quarters. The 150 millionth set-top box was shipped to Tata Sky, a leading digital TV operator in India, and a customer of Technicolor since 2006.

We are poised to keep innovating to anticipate on a fast-changing technologies and market environments, in order to provide our customers with set top boxes platforms, software solutions and integration services that will keep them ahead of the game.”
