Video delivery platforms to become US$ 4bn industry by 2017

The good times will keep rolling for providers of video delivery platforms over the next five years thanks to the accelerating rollout of over-the-top (OTT) video and TV Everywhere services, according to US firm ABI Research.

Revenues for video platforms distributing video on behalf of media and entertainment companies worldwide are predicted to reach US$ 2.1bn in 2012, and grow to over US$ 4bn in 2017.

KIT digital (which has its operational base in Prague and its corporate HQ in New York City) leads the field of content management systems (CMSs), having generated revenues of nearly US$ 175mn from media and entertainment companies last year, while Akamai is identified as leader of content delivery networks (CDNs), achieving revenues of US$ around 475mn in 2011.
