US DVR specialist TiVo has unveiled a new four-tuner model called the Premiere 4, designed to serve as the hub to a TiVo-based whole-home setup.
The unit supports digital cable (QAM only) and Verizon’s FiOS TV service, and features a 500 GB hard drive for recording up to 75 hours of HD programming. Inputs include CableCARD support, Cable coax, Ethernet connection, two USB 2.0 ports, eSATA and MoCA.
The new unit is being billed as a more affordable (US$ 250) version of TiVo’s four tuner, two terabyte TiVo Premiere XL4 which was revealed earlier this year, costing US$ 400.
The Premiere 4 also supports some of the most popular home automation controllers, including Crestron, Control4, and RTI, and can take advantage of TiVo’s integrated apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.
