New UK VOD service KnowHow coming to LG smart TVs

After entering the UK’s crowded online video market earlier this year with new venture KnowHow Movies, Dixons Retail has formed an agreement with Korean TV maker LG Electronics to bring its new service to the latter’s 2012 range of smart televisions.

Marking the first time the service has been made available on connected TVs, the service will appear alongside subscription video streaming services such as LoveFilm and Netflix, as well as transactional services Blinkbox and BSkyB-owned Acetrax.

KnowHow Movies was launched by Dixons Retail (owner of electronics retailers Currys and PC World) last March, offering movies from the major Hollywood studios alongside classic titles.
