The International 3D Society (I3DS) and the 3D@Home Consortium have decided to merge their operations and activities, which span 20 countries and chapters in China, Japan, Korea, Europe and North America.
The new organisation will operate under the slightly awkward new moniker of the International 3D Society & 3D@Home, which becomes effective immediately. It will be led by Jim Chabin, current president of I3DS.
Over 60 companies and 500 professionals are brought together by the merger, including big names such as Walt Disney, Dreamworks, Sony, ESPN, BSkyB, National Geographic, Sony and CCTV China.
