Warner Bros. inks blockbuster deal with Viewster

Swiss video-on-demand service Viewster has signed a distribution deal with Warner Bros. to bring the latter’s blockbusters and current releases to its 10mn viewers located in more than 100 countries.

The two-part deal will make some of Warner Bros.’ most popular content available to Viewster users in German-speaking territories – beginning with Germany, followed by Austria and Switzerland – and in 11 fast-developing VOD markets, including Poland, Russia, Turkey, UAE, India and countries in South East Asia.

The deal also provides Viewster with both rental and digital sell-through rights on around 1,000 Warner Bros. library titles, of which 250 will go live in the coming months.

Viewster plans to migrate digital sales to the Ultraviolet content ecosystem once its new cloud-based digital locker service is launched in each territory, enabling consumers to add Warner titles purchased through Viewster to their UltraViolet Digital Collection for unlimited consumption via multiple devices.
