Sweden’s Viaplay summons ActiveCloak to protect OTT service

Swedish pay-TV provider Viaplay has chosen content protection solutions from Amsterdam-based software company Irdeto to protect content delivered to its new hybrid set-top box, and expand the range of devices from which consumers can view premium content, starting with the iPhone and iPad.

Irdeto’s ActiveCloak for Media solution protects everything from catch-up TV to Hollywood movies, delivered over-the-top or through the home network, helping content owners, operators and CE manufacturers to build a successful digital media business model that can be securely monetised.

Viaplay (part of Modern Times Group) recently placed an order with Netgem for its new Viaplay Box, a hybrid set-top box which offers viewers a wide range of over-the-top (OTT) premium TV channels, free-to-air terrestrial channels and the full Viaplay online service – more details here.

Viaplay is the leading online pay-TV service in the Nordic region, and offers over-the-top (OTT) delivery of premium TV, movies and sports content to anyone with a broadband connection on multiple devices.

Worst service I have ever experienced, I guess Irdeto's ActiveCloaking is working so well it cloaks whole programs and in my case cloaks the whole customer service department. If you cant watch half of their programs, movies & series.. Viaplay is just a waste of cash.
