Portugal’s leading telecoms provider has launched a new mobile TV service which offers 60 live TV channels and video-on-demand titles, using delivery technology from Alcatel-Lucent and content protection from US firm AuthenTec.
Portugal Telecom’s new ‘Meo Go!’ service is available on Android, Apple iOS and Windows-based smartphones and tablets. The telco’s Chief Technology Officer Alfredo Baptista comments that it enables the company to reach millions of additional devices across the country.
The service offers a strong lineup of international and sports channels, including: AXN, Sony Entertainment Television, FOX, Syfy Universal, MTV, Disney Channel, National Geographic Channel, Eurosport.
Also on offer are several European football club channels, such as Benfica TV, Chelsea TV, Manchester United TV, Barça TV, Real Madrid TV and Inter channel.

Portugal Telecom reached 1mn subscribers for its pay-TV service ‘Meo’ (delivered via IPTV, satellite and mobile) in November 2011, a little under four years after its launch.
