The next version of popular social TV app GetGlue is set to arrive in the US very soon, sporting personalised user recommendations of what to watch and personalised streams for content related to the show.
Speaking at the Social TV Summit event current taking place in the Los Angeles suburb of Bel Air, GetGlue CEO Alex Iskold revealed that the app’s new guide will ditch the current grid system in favour of a calendar layout, so that users can see what shows are coming up for them.
The app’s new recommendations system will be driven by an algorithm that takes account of the TV shows a user has previously “checked in” to, as well the shows that a user’s friends like, and also Facebook likes.
GetGlue currently has around 3mn users in the US, and the new version is set to debut later this summer.
The app faces a growing number of competitors however, including Miso and Yahoo’s IntoNow, while UK app Zeebox is also eyeing a US launch this summer (details here).
