LOVEFiLM seals multi-year deal with 20th Century Fox

Pan-European online video service LOVEFiLM has signed a major multi-year content deal with Twentieth Century Fox which will give its UK subscribers instant access to recent and upcoming movies and TV series within the second pay television window.

The film deal commences with titles theatrically released in the UK in 2011, which will be made available to subscribers from March 2013.

Also included are movies and TV series from the studio’s archives library, including early seasons of motorcycle drama Sons of Anarchy and all seasons of 24, Prison Break, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel. These titles will become available from July 2012.

LOVEFiLM has signed a wide number of content deals over the past 12 months, including agreements with Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, NBC Universal, Entertainment One, STUDIOCANAL, Disney, ABC, BBC and ITV.

The service currently has over 2mn members in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, and recently improved the picture quality of its streaming service with the addition of HD titles – more details here.

LOVEFiLM was acquired by Amazon in February 2011, and provides access to over 70,000 titles available across Blu-ray, DVDs, video games and instant streaming via PCs/Macs, iPads and connected TV devices including the Xbox 360 and Internet-ready TVs.
