Irdeto to protect Kiwi TV service IGLOO

New Zealand broadcasters Sky Network Television and Television New Zealand (TVNZ) have chosen content security solutions from Irdeto to protect premium content on the new TV service they are jointly developing, called IGLOO.

The new service will combine free-to-air DTT programming with IP-delivered content and services, including premium content streamed via IP, with a pack of 11 channels available in addition to the country’s FTA channels.

The partners behind the joint venture (in which Sky owns 51% and TVNZ 49%) have previously indicated that the TV service would start in the first half of this year.
