VIDEO INTERVIEW: Google is looking for app developers for Smart TVs and the Android platform in order to include them in the community of developers building for Google TV, according to Ossama Alami, Manager of Developer Relations at Google.
Speaking to IP&TV News at the IP&TV World Forum in London last March, Ossama told us: “We are going after two sorts of developers – we are looking at Android developers and we are looking at Smart TV developers.
“In both cases we want to educate those developers about the other platform, so we are reaching out to these developers at events like this [the IP&TV World Forum], through online channels, through social media, and we work with specific partners that are interested in building for Google TV.”

A good iTV experience is all about accepting the limitations of the technology and playing to its strengths, IMO. This is no harder than building a good experience on any other platform IMO so long as you know what you are doing and have a clear vision about what you want to provide. UI design and HCI principles still apply.

Likeit's not the user experience harder to design... its harder for google avoiding search for the TV. if you ignore the search for a while and start designing the user experience from classical TV perspective then it will become easier. start from what we have in the common TV market (not the top 5% smart TV). you can provide search as a supporting tool rather than the core of entire UI. without the search google can still collect data about users' TV watching (and usage) behaviour.
