In this interview with Dale, who is presently Chief Interaction Officer (EMEA & APAC) at digital marketing agency Possible Worldwide, he discusses the areas of improvement he sees for current television UIs, how TV operators can more effectively combine broadcast and Web content, and the strategies that content creators should consider to tap into consumer demand for social TV.

  • I think this is why smartTV will kill iTV – you can in theory set up your experience to juxtapose the show you are watching with relevant twitter feeds rather than accept the lame experience of accepting the show overlaid with the tweets that the broadcaster wants you to see, for example. In the latter case those tweets are arriving how? From a viewer watching with their samrtphone/tablet on their lap. Smart TV should therefore provide true interactivity, especially if you can use your mobile device as a keyboard!
