Henri Setiawan, senior business researcher at Telkom Indonesia

We speak to Henri Setiawan, senior business researcher at Telkom Indonesia, about the progress the company has made with its Groovia TV service and its plans to offer a new CPE device for delivering online video to TV screens.

What progress has Telkom Indonesia made with its recently-launched IPTV service ‘Groovia TV’?

Telkom is seeing great results with Groovia TV, and is also preparing to launch an over-the-top (OTT) service this year. We had reached almost 6,000 subscribers by early 2012 for Groovia TV, which is aimed at subscribers to our “Speedy” broadband service.

Can you tell us a little more about the use of the SmartBox for content delivery?

SmartBox for content delivery will act as a Media Player for Internet content, as not many people in Indonesia can buy a Smart TV. Using SmartBox will reduce costs on the customer side, since our SmartBox costs around US$ 100 each.

How does Telkom Indonesia hope to achieve seamless integration for cloud access and information on the SmartBox?

Seamless integration for cloud access and information on the SmartBox will be handled by our over-the-top head-end solution, which involves Inventory Management and Personal Cloud service, giving advantages to our customers through a user-friendly application.
